The International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM), established in Bishkek by presidential decree in March 2003, is Kyrgyzstan’s top medical university. With campuses in Bishkek and Karakol (Issyk-Kul area), IHSM provides world-class infrastructure and high-quality education to prospective doctors. Starting with just 13 students, it today welcomes over 500 dedicated medical students, leaving a lasting legacy in the world of medicine. The university is well-known for its contemporary facilities, professional faculty, and international reputation. IHSM continues to encourage and support students to pursue their medical goals.

History of the University

The International Higher School of Medicine (IHSM) was founded in 2003 as part of a strategic initiative to reform the Kyrgyz education system and enhance the competitiveness of national universities on a global scale. The establishment of IHSM marked a turning point in Kyrgyzstan’s higher education landscape, introducing a new model of modern, dynamic learning aligned with international standards.

From its inception, the primary mission of IHSM has been to create a world-class medical institution capable of delivering high-quality training to aspiring healthcare professionals. The university emphasizes innovation in teaching methods, integration of advanced medical technologies, and continuous improvement of academic programs to meet the evolving needs of the global medical community.

IHSM is one of the largest and modern medical education hubs in Kyrgyzstan. Our chest swells with pride as we declare that our university has trained thousands of highly qualified doctors who have successfully imprinted their mark in India and all across the globe. Over 2800 students have already graduated, and around 3500 students are currently mastering medical sciences.

We believe that students deserve the best, and that can be well-reflected through the modern facilities we bring to the table at IHSM. We have provided excellent conditions for students as to the best quality of education and cross our hearts to progress with each day.

With the world rapidly pacing towards advancement, we have adopted a practice-oriented approach as a top priority for our educational process.
